Noemie has worked with some of the greats in the industry, and has a fascinating background that has given her that little something extra over many of her contemporaries.
Victoria's Secret fans know Noémie from her appearances in the 2007 and 2008 Victoria's Secret Fashion Shows, but this exotic charmer has a lot more to her credit than just that.
Let's take a closer look at the fascinating Noémie Lenoir.
Noémie is as French as you can be, having been born near the royal town of Versailles 25 km outside of Paris (actually in nearby Ulis, Essonne). Everybody says that Noemie was born in Versailles - but not quite. Missed it by that much.
Noémie's father was a French electrician, while her mother was from Réunion in the Indian Ocean, and has Malagasy ancestry.
Noémie was discovered while living in Palaiseau. A Ford Modelling Agency representative saw her in a Postal Office and gave her his card.
Lenoir has been on many covers around Europe and North America. However, the majority of them have been in France:
- France: 'Cosmopolitan' - September 2002; 'FHM' - May 2004; 'Cosmopolitan' - July 2004; 'Vogue' - June/July 2008; 'French Revue de Modes' - Spring/Summer 2011; 'Lurve' - Winter 2011
- Italy: 'Amica'
- Turkey: 'Madame Figaro' - August 2009
Noémie married (apparently) French footballer Claude Makélélé in early 2004.
Noémie has tattoos on her lower tummy and on her right foot.
Noémie and Makélélé had a boy named Kelyan, born in 2005.
Noémie has made many "hottest girl" lists. For example, she ranked #42 on the 2004 "100 Sexiest Women" in FHM France.
Noémie and Makélélé apparently broke up in early 2009. Whether or not they were ever technically married was a bit unclear for many years. Noémie wrote in a blog post in 2009 that the two were never actually married, and that he was just the "baby daddy."
Noémie was in Usher's music video for "Hey Daddy (Daddy's Home)" in 2009.
Noémie has done a lot of acting. Her first project was "Asterix & Obelix: Mission Cleopatra" (2002).
Other films graced by Lenoir include "Payoff," "After the Sunset," "The Valet," and "The Transporter Refueled" (2015).
Noémie is best known for appearing in "Rush Hour 3" with Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker.
Noémie is notorious for having made a failed suicide attempt in 9 May 2010 by intentionally overdosing. A man walking his dog found her lying in a park. Apparently, it was fashionable around that time for models to make suicide attempts, because Noemie wasn't the only one. Noémie since has said the whole thing was "stupid."
Noemie had this to say:
Last May, I did something really, really stupid. I had been living in New York and I moved back to Paris, to try again with the father of my son. It was a big change. I wasn't so healthy in Paris . . . I couldn't find a gym, and exercise is important to me because I am very hyper. I came straight from New York to living in Claude's house, and I really wanted it to work, and it didn't work out. He hurt me . . . so I decided . . . I don't know how to say this. It was like a bad, bad depression, a very deep depression. I felt really alone. It wasn't just like, "I'm here, don't ignore me". Nothing like that. I really thought I wanted . . . I decided to. After my . . . after I tried to kill myself, when I woke up, I finally realized: Claude is not the man for me. And I am not the woman for him. I am too independent and he is too independent also.Noemie has indicated that the incident flowed from deep-seated self-esteem issues:
People say, "How could she do it, how could she try and kill herself, didn't she think about her son?" But they don't understand. I love my son so much. But I didn't think I was good enough, I thought I was poison. Poison for me and poison for him. When I was depressed I felt like I was poisoning his life by being in it. I thought he would be better with his dad and my mum to look after him. I didn't realize I was hurting anyone, until I woke up in the hospital and saw my mum crying.Noemie apparently suffered no lasting ill effects.
Aside from her film roles, Noémie has become a regular presence on French television. She hosted a show on Trace TV for two years.
Noémie' most recent film as of this writing was "The Transporter Refueled" in 2015.
I think if you don't trust in yourself, it helps to trust in something else.
Noémie Lenoir is on Twitter and Instagram.
The diva generation is gone, my generation, we're not so rude. We turn up on time, even Kate Moss, because if we don't, we won't get booked again. And besides, I don't want to behave like a famous person. I like to be normal.
Noémie had a daughter, Tosca, in August 2015.
Noémie is on Facebook and provides regular updates there. However, if you want to follow her, you will have a lot more fun if you speak French!
My son is living with me and he sees his dad a lot and he is happy, and he is doing really well at school. He is bilingual, and he is learning horse riding and Spanish. Everything is normal. I eat normally now. I used to be a bit crazy about what I ate, but now I eat what I want to eat. A croissant for breakfast, pasta for lunch, in the evening fish and salad.
Noemie is renowned for her risqué show at the Crazy Horse in Paris in which she gradually sheds her clothes.
