Alexa is best known for her role as Carmen Cortez in the "Spy Kids" film series. She played the role from 2001 to 2011, in all filming four films in the series. She was said to have performed most of her own stunts in the Spy Kids films.

Those were just the biggest hits of her career: she also starred in a variety of other important films, such as playing Mary in "From Prada to Nada" and Ashley in "Innocent."

With five films released in 2013 alone, and numerous different projects in 2014, Alexa remains a very hard-working young woman. She also does a little singing, mostly in conjunction with her film acting, and has made guest appearances on numerous television series.
Many fans remember Alexa from her role as Kiley Brenner in television series "Nashville" in 2014-2015.
It is refreshing that Alexa, despite all her success, appears to have remained quite down-to-earth. After a failed marriage with Sean Covel, Alexa got married to Alexa Pena on 4 January 2014 and changed her name to Alexa PenaVega. The couple has one child, son Ocean King PenaVega, born on December 7, 2016.
Alexa has appeared in music videos for her husband, Carlos PenaVega, such as ""Bésame."
In November 15, 2015, while participating in "Dancing With The Stars," Alexa revealed that she suffered from bulimia for six years:
I was shooting this movie and the producers kept telling me ‘you’re too fat’… and as a child you don’t really know how to handle that kind of pressure so, from that moment, for the next six years of my life I had an eating disorder.
I'm already a tiny person, so now I'm trying to go to the gym to add muscle. I need it!
I've been through a marriage, and I'm still very fond of my ex-husband; but if I've learned anything, it's that relationships are about compromise.
Guys are so easygoing and girls are a little harder to please, but that's okay.
I don't know what to say when I have a crush on somebody. I kind of lose my words. I really try to start a conversation, and I can't. It's horrible.
I was raised by a very strict, good mother, so I won't be getting out of line anytime soon.
I guess if you are making more money than your mom and dad, you can set your own boundaries.
Never compromise yourself.
The Internet has become a tool to pick on people and ruin someone's life. I don't think parents realize what's going on.
I think I am too old to be doing teen movies. I am just kind of annoyed, because you have all these teen movies coming out with usually either Lindsay Lohan or Hilary Duff doing four of the exact teen movies over and over again.
Well, because I'm naturally a tomboy, when I have sleepovers with girls, they end up going home and crying.
I think it really makes a difference when you know the people that you're working with, when you develop a relationship.
I don't know how I didn't kill any one of my sisters. For this one horror film we were making, I made my own harness for my sister. I wrapped her in all these ropes, but then also put a noose around her neck and hung her from a tree. Now I think, 'What if my harness didn't work?' I'm so lucky that nothing ever happened.

When you have people catering to you non-stop, you lose it. You need someone to kick you in the butt every now and then!
I need a SUV, for me and my four sisters. So, I've narrowed it down to four, kind of expensive, cars.
