Sophie Dahl (born Sophie Holloway; 15 September 1977) is an English model who turned into best-selling author. Renowned for her voluptuous figure, Sophie was at the top of the modelling field until she decided into cookery books and novels. Now, she is a phenomenon in that field, too.
Sophie was born in London, England, but she spent her youth moving hither and yon every few years or even months.
She decided to become a model, so she made her debut on the catwalk of Lainey Keogh's show during the Autumn 1997 London Fashion Week.
Sophie nabbed this gig because Keogh was looking for amateur friends to model as well as professionals. Isabella Blow noticed her (supposedly in a London street - isn't that how it always happens?) and introduced her to Sarah Doukas of the Storm Model Agency, where Sophie quickly signed.
Sophie found herself in campaigns for:
- Patrick Cox
- Alexander McQueen
Sophie's numerous covers include:
- Red (June 2009 and November 2011)
- Vogue UK (2002, 2003, 2007)
- Vogue Italy (2000)
- Elle (Canada July 2004; Germany January 2003)
- Harper's Bazaar (September 2008)

Sophie published several short stories and then two novels, 'The Man with the Dancing Eyes' and 'Playing with the Grown-Ups.'
She also published a book of cookery in 2010, 'Miss Dahl's Voluptuous Delights,' which spawned a BBC series.
Sophie Dahl remains a celebrity more for her writing than for her modelling, but together they keep her in the public eye.
Sophie Dahl is married to the singer Jamie Cullum, and together they have two daughters. The family lives in Great Missenden, Buckinghamshire.
