Magali Amadei, Cadillac Commercial Legend

The Striking Girl with the Stunning Face

Magali Amadei.

Magali Amadei (born on 30 November 1974 in Nice, France) is sometimes referred to as the "forgotten" Victoria's Secret model, which is a bit unkind. Nobody who was entranced by her Gallic beauty ever forgot Magali. Some would say that she is a cross between Sophia Loren and Linda Evangelista, which is fast company indeed. In any event, she has one of the most striking faces in the business, bar none.

As a child, all Magali wanted to do was dance. She studied ballet at The Opera House in Nice, and was doing just fine when she was discovered and offered a modelling contract. She made the tough decision and, in 1991 at 17, she moved across the pond to New York to begin working there.

Vogue, Marie Claire, Elle, Allure, Cosmopolitan and Harper’s Bazaar all came calling, and Magali shot covers for them all. Major brands couldn't get enough of her: Loewe, Strenesse, Nine West, Rocobarocco, Blumarine, Arden B, Mikimoto pearls, Leo Diamonds, L’Oreal, Olay and Dove. She was snapped by the best photographers, including Steven Meisel, Peter Lindbergh and Paolo Roversi.

Success in the fashion world led to acting opportunities, and Magali prepared hard, just as she had as a ballet prospect. She took acting classes, then made her debut in the 1997 short film "Bloody Trail." This was followed by roles in the tv series "The Mind of a Married Man" and smash hit feature film "The Wedding Planner" in 2001, then "Taxi" and "House of D" in 2004.

Perhaps her most memorable moment on screen, though, came when she wasn't even there. She was “the smart girl who fell in love” in "The Sex and the City" movie, and as a result had to auction all of her jewelry, including the oversized flower ring desired by Samantha. Her distinctive black and white picture dominates the opening shot in this "auction" scene.

Of course, everyone knows Amadei with her pixie hairdo from her iconic Chico's spots for Chico’s Slim Fit Jeans that began in 2010 and kept her in the public eye for many years.

Not everything has been fun and carefree for Magali. In reality, while she was a top fashion model with the world at her feet, Magali had low esteem and suffered from bulimia. After passing out during a 1999 photoshoot, Magali admitted her problem in a sensational interview. It was the beginning of the end of her modelling career, but Magali moved on to become a spokesperson for The American Bulimia Association and founder of 5 Solutions and Inside Beauty to share her own experience with people who can use some support.

That doesn't mean that Magali has disappeared: far from it. Aside from Chico's, Magali has had some other stunning spots recently. Here's a 2014 Cadillac SRX Crossover commercial where she turns some heads as "Stacy's Mom."

The commercial is simple, to the point, and gives Magali a fantastic set-up. Magali carries herself regally in this commercial and her pride is sexy. The song in the commercial, incidentally, is "Stacy's Mom" by Fountains of Wayne. The song came out in 2003. Magali also is known as the girl in the commercial for Chico’s Slim Fit Jeans seen by many here in the United States.
