Kang Seung-Hyun aka Seung-hyun Kang aka Hyoni Kang (born 22 September 1987) is a Korean model, film director and fashion designer. She is a multi-talented marketing genius who has blazed a path for Asian models in the western fashion scene.
Hyoni won Ford's Supermodel of the World title in 2008 at the age of 19 in January 2008. She is the first Asian model to win this award.
Winning the Ford competition opened the door for Hyoni to a modelling career, and she quickly took advantage. Hyoni made her New York runway debut in February 2008, and that September walked again.
Hyoni gets lots of covers in Korea, and is a well known model in China. She has remained active since her debut, especially with brands such as DKNY. In September 2014, Hyoni signed a contract with YG KPLUS.
Hyoni did some modelling for Victoria's Secret Pink, too.
Hyoni has her own re-purposed vintage fashion brand, 'Reborn Process,' which she sells in her own SoHo, New York boutique. She also works with Love Cat, a Korean fashion brand, designing bags under her own Hyoni-line of limited edition accessories.
Hyoni also works with Korean fashion house La Palette designing bags for them as well.
Hyoni is a very familiar presence on Korean television. She starred in 'Get It Style,' which was unexpectedly popular. People tuned in to find out what was in fashion and what they could wear that comported with current trends.
She also was on SBS's "Running Man" series, as well as several other Korean programs such as "Never Ending Story," "We Broke Up" and "High Society." Hyoni was the main host for Korean fashion TV show "Get It Style" in 2013.
