Eliza Dushku was born in Watertown, Massachusetts on 30 December 1980, the daughter of Philip R. Dushku, an administrator and teacher in the Boston Public Schools, and Judith "Judy" (née Rasmussen), a political science professor.

She developed an interest in becoming an actress at a young age. She had a few high-profile bit parts as a teenager, such as playing Arnold Schwarzenegger's daughter in "True Lies," and after graduation from high school joined the "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" cast.

No matter what role she plays, it seems that Eliza somehow winds up wearing black leather at some point.

Reports in the media state that Eliza gave up the business (at least for a while) and returned to Boston to pick up the college education that she was about to pursue when "Buffy" came along all those years ago.

An education is a wonderful thing, and my sources tell me that many actresses who were sensations in their teens think longingly for many years of returning to the Ivied Halls and grabbing the sheepskin. Of course, thinking about it is a lot different than actually doing it.

It appears that it was just a momentary phase, because Eliza later resumed her career, primarily as a voice actress.

Pays a lot better than working at the Student Union!

Whether or not Eliza does matriculate and remains in school for the duration, we wish her well and hope she does come back in the future to display her charms on screen. Whatever is best for Eliza, she's a lovely lady.

Eliza got some publicity in 2015 due to a hotel incident involving British boy band One Direction. She was in Pittsburgh filming an appearance on cable show "Banshee."

Basically, Eliza was camping out at her Pittsburgh hotel for months on end while filming a cable series (which seems kind of odd, because she is only listed as appearing in one episode, but that may be erroneous). Finally, One Direction came to town, and they wanted the entire floor for security reasons. That is what they always do, they pay the hotels for the privilege, they make their arrangements well in advance, and Eliza had to go. Eliza clearly was annoyed at first, though she quickly made light of it.

It wasn't One Direction's fault, they always book entire hotel floors. Else, they get pestered by fans throughout the night. It appears that Eliza worked through her issues and made peace with the boys, who probably didn't even know who she was. Though, they might now, come to think of it. And Eliza should be glad, she got more publicity than she's gotten in the past five or ten years.

Eliza is good friends with Joss Whedon, who she calls:
my favorite genius ... favorite friend ... big brother ... and the only person out here I've ever wholeheartedly trusted, because he's never let me down.

Of course, Joss Whedon cast Eliza in two successful television series, so he's probably a big fan of hers, too.
