Vanessa Anne Hudgens (born December 14, 1988) became a tween legend with her brilliant performance as Gabriella Montez in the High School Musical series. Vanessa since has gone on to other things, but Vanessa remains an idol of millions of girls. Let's learn a little more about Vanessa.
Vanessa is originally from Salinas, California, and has lived along the Pacific coast.
Vanessa is of Irish, Native American, Filipino, Chinese and Spanish heritage.
While Vanessa began acting at a very young age, her first break occurred when she appeared in an episode of Still Standing, which led to other roles on television series.
Vanessa's biggest break took place when she appeared in "Thirteen" (2003), playing the role of Noel.
"Thirteen" was a big cult hit and got Vanessa a lot of attention because the film was very raw and naturalistic.
Hudgens then did some other film work in "Thunderbirds" (2004).
It was at this point that Vanessa got the role that millions of fellow teenagers would learn about her from, that of Gabriella in High School Musical on the Disney Channel. The film was a raging success.
Vanessa appeared alongside Zac Efron and Ashley Tisdale in High School Musical.
Vanessa sang for "High School Musical," and her duet "Breaking Free" with Zac became a Top 10 hit on the Billboard Hot 100.
Vanessa then recorded a solo album, "V," which went Gold.
The sequel to "High School Musical" appeared in 2007. Its premiere was the highest rated Disney Channel movie of all Time.
There also was a weekly series that gave some behind the scenes peeks at Vanessa while she filmed her part for "High School Musical 2."
Hudgens then put out another solo album, "Identified," released on 1 July 2008. The album did not do as well as her first album.
Another High School Musical film, "High School Musical 3," followed in 2008. It was released theatrically and did quite well.
"High School Musical 3" grossed $252 million worldwide, beating expectations. By then, Vanessa Hudgens was a huge star with several massive successes behind her.

Vanessa didn't just appear with Zac Efron in the "High School Musical" films; she also dated him.
Vanessa and Zac soon ended their relationship, but Vanessa has maintained her high Hollywood profile and continues to produce music and act. The relationship was marred by several unauthorized releases of hacked information from Vanessa's cell phone. Her subsequent relationship with actor Austin Butler also generated some bad press in May 2016 when Vanessa carved their initials into a rock on public land. The U.S. Forest Service was not amused, and Vanessa had to pay a restitution fine of $1000. Since then, Vanessa has avoided any bad press.
Vanessa Hudgens' return to music already is underway. She was featured on Shawn Hook's 2017 single "Reminding Me," along with the accompanying music video. It hit the Canadian Top 40.
Vanessa also has been continuing with her acting career. She plays Emily Locke on "Powerless" (2017) and Betty Rizzo in television movie "Grease Live!" (2016). Vanessa definitely has a big future ahead of her whether she focuses on acting, or music, or both together.
