Alyssa Jayne Milano (born December 19, 1972) is an American actress, producer and singer who has been in the public eye for over thirty years. America has watched Alyssa grow up from a little girl on television to a mature woman raising her own family.
Alyssa, the child of Lin Milano and film music editor Thomas Milano, grew up in the Brooklyn and Staten Island boros of New York City. She was a child actress who was picked as one of four girls chosen out of 1500 to join the national tour of the Broadway musical "Annie." Other theater jobs followed, and Alyssa made her first forays into television by making commercials. She also nabbed a supporting role in independent film "Old Enough."
Success came quickly for Alyssa. She was chosen to play Samantha Micelli on the ABC sitcom series "Who's the Boss?" (1984–92) with Tony Danza, a smash hit television show. This led to a succession of other serial tv shows, playing Jennifer Mancini on the Fox soap opera "Melrose Place (1997–98), and Phoebe Halliwell on The WB television series Charmed" (1998–2006).
Hollywood isn't just about television, though, and Alyssa soon began receiving plum film offers because of her tv stardom. She appeared in "Commando" with Arnold Schwarzenegger and this indirectly led to a record deal in Japan. At around this time she also was used by animators for Disney Animation Studio's "The Little Mermaid" as their inspiration for iconic title character Ariel.
The '90s were not the best time for Alyssa, who struggled to find quality acting jobs after the demise of "Who's the Boss." She appeared nude in films such as "Embrace of the Vampire" and "Poison Ivy II: Lily," and also portrayed sleazy shooter Amy Fisher in "Casualties of Love: The Long Island Lolita Story." Eventually her career picked back up and shot back to its former prominence with the huge success of "Charmed," and she has remained busy ever since. She currently appears in "Mistresses" on ABC TV.
Alyssa dated teen idol Scott Wolf for a while, becoming engaged to him in 1993, but eventually they separated. She then married musician Cinjun Tate in 1999, but that lasted less than a year. Eventually, she married CAA agent David Bugliari, and she gave birth to son Milo Thomas Bugliari in 2011 and daughter Elizabeth a few years later.
Alyssa's mom, Lin, is apparently quite a character. She refused to move to Hollywood at first when Alyssa got the "Who's the Boss?" job, thinking it might be a flash in the pan.
Then, with the growth of the Internet, Alyssa's mom embarked upon a famous campaign to rid the Internet of nude pictures of her daughter. The attempt failed, of course - nobody on earth can do that - but Lin surely sounds like she is quite a strong woman who has helped Alyssa achieve her dreams.

Alyssa has dyslexia, which she found a novel way of dealing with as an actress:
I've stumbled over words while reading from teleprompters. Sir John Gielgud, whom I worked with on The Canterville Ghost years ago, gave me great advice. When I asked how he memorized his monologues, he said, "I write them down." I use that method to this day. It not only familiarizes me with the words, it makes them my own.

Alyssa has a son and a daughter with David Bugliari, who she married in December 2008.
Alyssa was married to singer Cinjun Tate from January 1, 1999 until early 2000.

Alyssa supports many philanthropic causes, including PETA, UNICEF, and political candidates.
Alyssa remains very in-demand as a television actress. She played Savannah 'Savi' Davis on television series "Mistresses" from 2013-2014, played Renata on TV series "Wet Hot American Summer: Ten Years Later" in 2017, and plays Coralee on television series "Insatiable" (2018).
VH1 ranked Alyssa at No. 28 on its list of "The 100 Greatest Child Actors of All Time," and also at No. 30 on its similar list for Teen stars.
In my book, the number-one sign that you're all grown up is when your baby brother's giving YOU piggyback rides!
First, accept sadness. Realize that without losing, winning isn't so great.
I turned vegetarian after 9/11. A friend of mine came back from New York and said that he couldn't stand the smell of burnt flesh. It immediately reminded me of a barbecue."
I'm a big believer in individual responsibility.
Every time I decide I want a child I get another pet. I have 3 dogs, 13 birds and 3 horses, what does that tell you?
Animals, they are one of the most beautiful gifts we have and, you know, if there are people that have compassion, there are very few people that put their money into animal rescue organizations. And if there is someone that has that passion, animals need all the help they can get.
Baseball is, in many ways, like a boyfriend or spouse. You can love him, you should love him, but you need to learn that he exists without you, and you without him. You need to learn the same thing about baseball, that as much as you care, you need to be able to step back.
We were in Brooklyn and we stopped by a neighbor's house ... there were these dogs there and I guess they had puppies, she was going to keep one but said she may have to put the rest to sleep if she couldn't find homes for them, so if we knew anyone that wanted puppies to let her know. I asked what she meant by "putting them to sleep", so I asked and my mom being as subtle as possible said it means they are going to kill them. So we took home one named Pluto.
I've always believed in experiencing everything in life. When you walk out with blinders on, you cut yourself off from the angels and the fairies.
I had to deal with a certain amount of guilt that accompanied being successful at a young age. The guilt that my parents gave up their dreams, friendships, and the only life they knew to make *my* triumphs a possibility. The guilt that my brother had to deal with having a famous sister. It was not easy, but thank God I had them to remind me what is important in life.
Alyssa was pregnant with daughter Elizabeth during the second season of "Mistresses."
Alyssa left "Mistresses" when filming moved from Los Angeles to Vancouver, as she did not want to leave home.
Alyssa has a subtle reference in Guardians of the Galaxy (2014), as spaceship "Milano" is named after her.
Alyssa is a big fan of The Beatles and loves the song "Blackbird."
It's nice to be important, but it's important to always be nice.
I've dated the sweet mama's boy, the musician rocker, the struggling artist - basically a lot of people without jobs.
