Queen of Pop, Britney Rules
Britney Jean Spears (born December 2, 1981) is a multi-talented American recording artist, singer-songwriter, tv star, entertainer, dancer, actress, and author.
Britney first came to fame as a member of the Disney revival of The Mickey Mouse Club in the 1990s, when Britney was only 8 years old. She was the youngest member of the ensemble cast, winning a spot only after Jessica Simpson blew her audition on her final question.
Britney has been a singer all of her life. After several labels rejected her, she finally signed with Jive Records. The studio envisioned her as being a younger, hipper version of Sheryl Crow. They got a lot more than that.
Her first album, "...Baby One More Time," was released in January 1999 and became one of the top albums of the decade.

It was crowned by the smash No. 1 hit title track and the strong follow-up, "Oops I Did It Again." In the video for "Oops," Britney wore a memorable red suit in a sort of send-up of the motion picture "Titanic" ... set on Mars. "But didn't the old lady throw this in the sea?"
Spears cultivated a sexual image from her earliest days as a solo artist. She engendered controversy with a series of provocative covers for Rolling Stone Magazine.
Never showing too much, Britney succeeded in skirting the edges of bad taste without smashing through. She had a much-publicized romance with Justin Timberlake, but moved on from that to have two boys with Kevin Federline.
She tried to help Kevin - dubbed "K-Fed" - start a rap career. That didn't go very far. After a while, they divorced as Britney went through a wild period of depression.
Britney went on to many more successful albums and accompanying singles. At the 2003 VMAs, she notoriously kissed Madonna. Madonna, of course, had just kissed Christina Aguilera, but nobody even noticed that - it was all about Britney and Madonna. The two then collaborated on a music video which extended the whole theme to "another level," as Britney likes to say.
Britney's romances with Justin Timberlake and failed marriages also gained her much publicity. It was a wild ride, and it led to an epic crash akin to a Ferrari blasting head-on into a brick wall at 90 mph.
Fame became too much for her about ten years into her solo career, and she was placed under the care of her father. Nobody but Britney understands the pressures she was under. Whatever happened, she got through it... barely.
What's amazing, and what few people seem to appreciate, is how completely Britney bounced back. Whenever she had a down period, she bounced back, perhaps most memorably with her smash single "Toxic."
How many acts from 2000 are still going strong, still making money left and right, still doing it their way, without succumbing for good to some format that banks solely on their celebrity not their true skills? Britney is. She still entertains, sings her songs, dances and does what she's always done.

Britney Spears remains very much a major force in the music industry. She branched out briefly as a judge on "The X Factor" for a season, performing more solidly than many expected, then moved on without any damage to her career whatsoever.

Her album releases and tours remain events for her devoted fans and the music scene in general, and she performs regularly in Las Vegas. As you will see below, though, this is not her first taste of Sin City.

Tickets to see Britney in Vegas remain hard to get, proving that she remains at the top of her game. She also makes the news with her nightly act when rabid fans storm the stage to meet her.
Britney occasionally acts, but usually only in her own music videos. Once in a great while she will appear in a television series, such as "Jane the Virgin" in 2015, but she appears to have set aside her dreams of becoming a movie star. That said, her 2002 film "Crossroads," while widely mocked, reportedly made her a tidy profit.
Britney apparently spends most of her time in Las Vegas these days, doing her routine at Planet Hollywood Las Vegas. The theater seats 4500, and it is a must-see for any Britney fan.
Britney is ending her "Pieces of Me" show, which debuted in 2013, at the end of 2017. In fact, her final show will be December 31, 2017.
Saying goodbye to this show is going to be SO hard.
In between appearances at Planet Hollywood, Britney has embarked on tours of various places. For instance, she has appeared in Israel and Asia.
Britney is still managed by Larry Rudolph. She infamously fired him during her troubled period of the mid-2000s, but they later reunited and he has been guiding her career for several years now.
The rumor is that when her "residency" at Planet Hollywood, Rudolph may set up another residency in Las Vegas. It will be big news when that is announced - if it ever is.
The "Pieces of Me" tour is not ending because it is running out of steam or anything like that. The show has been extremely successful, with Britney making about 250 performances for Caesars Entertainment.
Ending her tenure at Planet Hollywood is such a big deal that Britney issued a statement - like a President or something:
As I prepare to say goodbye to 'Piece of Me,' I had no idea how magical this experience would be. Having my fans from around the world come see my show has been amazing. I love Las Vegas and will miss performing this show.

Speaking of Presidents, during the 2016 Presidential campaign Britney's endorsement was eagerly sought. She agreed to a photo op in her Las Vegas penthouse with Hillary Clinton, but immediately afterward put out a statement that she was not endorsing anyone. It was a smart move, as she did not alienate any of her fans by choosing sides as so many celebrities like to do these days.
Britney's political leanings are a closely guarded secret. However, she offered to perform at the 2004 Republican National Convention. The organizers, in a widely derided decision, said that her act at the time was inappropriate and turned her down. The GOP instead used Brooks & Dunn and Sara Evans.
Britney's list of accolades is too extensive to list. For instance, People magazine named her one of the 50 Most Beautiful People in the World in 1999.
Britney allocated some of her 2001 tour earnings - a reported $2 million - for donations to the children of police officers and firemen killed in the World Trade Center tragedy.
Britney has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. She is the youngest person ever to receive one, tied with Melissa Gilbert of "Little House on the Prairie" fame.
Britney married her childhood sweetheart, Jason Alexander (no, not that Jason Alexander from "Seinfeld"), after a wild night in Las Vegas. She quickly annulled the marriage, and her publicist laughed it off as "taking a joke too far."
Britney basically stole a role in The Mickey Mouse Club from Jessica Simpson, and Jessica returned the favor in the remake of "The Dukes of Hazzard" (2005).
Britney is the first woman ever to have her first four studio albums hit No. 1 on the U.S. album charts. They are:
- "Oops! I Did It Again" (2000)
- "Britney" (2001)
Her fifth album, "Blackout," peaked at No. 2, but then her sixth and seventh reached No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart.

In 2007, Forbes calculated that Britney was the 12th richest woman in Entertainment, with an estimated net worth of $100 million. This was right when Britney was descending into a period of depression. If nothing else, it shows that money alone does not buy happiness.
Britney made the top of "Mr. Blackwell's Worst Dressed List" in both 2005 and 2006. She shared the 2006 spot with Paris Hilton.
Britney has had numerous No. 1 records, but only four singles have debuted at No. 1 on the pop chart:
"Hold It Against Me" set the record for the most radio plays in one day in the United States (619 on Mediabase and 595 on Nielsen), and its 411k downloads during its first week also set a record.
Britney topped FHM magazine's 2004 list of the 100 Sexiest Women in the World. She also made the list in 1999, 2000, 2002, 2003, 2005, 2007, 2008, and 2009.
Britney has had five U.S. No. 1 hits. In addition to the four that debuted at No. 1, her single "S&M" with Rihanna also hit No. 1.
Britney is one of only three female artists to top the Billboard US Hot 100 singles chart in three decades (1990s, 2000s, 2010s). She shares that honor with Janet Jackson and Madonna. Four male artists have done it, too.
Only Barbra Streisand and Madonna have more No. 1 albums than Britney Spears, who has six. She is tied with Mariah Carey and Janet Jackson.

This is my dream come true. I can't believe this is happening right now. I can't believe I even have a movie. I feel very blessed to be where I am right now.
How do I keep slim? Having two boys definitely helps, and I love to dance. It's the best way to stay in shape.
I'm really just a boring homebody who loves staying home with my kids and that's where I'm the happiest.
I've always been very comfortable being nude. I don't feel like I have anything to hide.
I think you know when you've met the right person.
A lot of my hairstylists and my beauty team that I work with are gay so I hang out with gays a lot and I just think they're adorable and hilarious.

Don't care too much 'bout what other people think. What really matters is your own point of view.
I believe that all women can create their own world where they shine the brightest. It's all about having the power and confidence to be yourself.
The most painful thing I have ever experienced was that breakup [with Justin Timberlake]. We were together so long and I had this vision. You think you're going to spend the rest of your life together. Where I come from, the woman is the homemaker, and that's how I was brought up -- you cook for your kids.
Who really cares if I've had sex? It's nobody's business. Trust me, I'm not going to have a press conference to announce it. If I mess up, I'm human. If I have a drink or I'm with someone, I'm human. I'm no different than anyone else my age.
My views on virginity have not changed. I want to wait to have sex until I'm married. I do. I want to wait, but it's hard. I just want to live my life.
I love Jessica Simpson. I love her voice. She's amazing. I have her CD, and I have [Christina Aguilera's] CD. I have all of their CDs. They're amazing. You know? I have a lot of respect for them. Anybody who can be in this business... the work is so overwhelming sometimes and anybody who can do that I have a lot of respect for.
I dress the way I want. I don't pretend to be someone I'm not.
Christina and I are friends no matter what the media makes up.
Onstage, I'm the happiest person in the world.
England is one of my favorite places. The fans are just so crazy.
Who wouldn't want to be a princess?
I find it so funny that people find me so interesting. And, I hate when they're like "Define your image." I don't know what my image is. I just do my thing.
